There are currently 23 patients admitted for COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, according to the Health Services Subcommittee’s report dated January 15th, 2022.

Of the 23 patients admitted; one is partially vaccinated, five are vaccinated and the remaining seventeen are unvaccinated. All of them are admitted to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital’s COVID-19 ward.

According to a separate release from the Health Services Subcommittee dated January 14th, 2022, SVG’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 87 following the death of two unvaccinated males, aged 76 and 87.

One new COVID-19 positive case, as well as fifty-five new rapid antigen-positive results, was confirmed by the report.

“The current COVID-19 testing algorithm, based on the WHO recommendations appropriate for this phase of the current outbreak, reduces the number of RT-PCR tests conducted, relying more on rapid antigen testing and clinical diagnosis.” The subcommittee stated in their release.

Following the recovery of 8 more people from the virus, active cases of COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines now stand at 903.

Since March of 2020, there have been 6599 COVID-19 positive cases reported.
