The Zika Action Committee in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment has launched an island-wide cleanup campaign as part of its intensified vector control and surveillance measures.

A release from the Ministry of Health notes that these measures are in line with the global prevention and control strategy launched by the World Health Organisation (WHO), which is based on surveillance, response activities and research.

Minister of Health, Luke Browne speaking at a press conference last Thursday outlined the areas that will specifically be targeted as part of this clean-up campaign.

Minister Browne said the Ministry will remain on high alert, to protect the population from the virus.
