Poor and Elderly persons who receive funding through public assistance, will from January of 2020 be given an additional 25 dollars from the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, on Sunday October 27 – as he delivered his independence speech, during this country’s National Independence and Military Parade, held at the Victoria Park.

In his address, Dr. Gonsalves said that persons 65 years and over and are on Public Assistance will receive 275 dollars a 25 dollar increase from 250 dollars, while persons below the age of 65 will receive 250 dollars, a 25 dollar increase from 225 dollars.

He said he his Government is committed towards the indigent.

Dr. Gonsalves added that the Government is working on a new facility to relocate the patients at the Lewis Punnett Care Home.
