St. Vincent and the Grenadines has recorded its first fully vaccinated COVID-19 death. A 67-year-old female who, presented to the Accident and Emergency Department on January 5th, 2021, after a one-week illness, died of COVID-19 pneumonia on January 6th, 2022. The patient, who, tested positive on admission had pre-existing non-communicable diseases. She was fully vaccinated during the period April to July, 2021. Her death brings the death toll from COVID-19 to 84.

208 new COVID-19 positive cases were also reported here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

According to NEMO’s Health Services Subcommittee 117 of the new cases were reported from 416 samples collected on Monday January 3rd, 2022.

The other 91 cases were reported from samples collected on Tuesday January 4th.

Active cases of the virus in country now stand at 743.

There are currently 16 patients admitted to the COVID-19 ward at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, two of whom are fully vaccinated, the rest are unvaccinated.

Since March of 2020 St. Vincent and the Grenadines has reported 6247 COVID-19 cases and 5421 COVID-19 recoveries.
