According to an official release from the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) residents of Chateaubelair and Fitz-Hughes will be able to return to their homes from July 23rd 2021.

“The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines took the decision today Tuesday 13th July, 2021 that residents of the communities of Fitz-Hughes and Chateaubelair who evacuated due to the explosive eruption of the La Soufrière volcano can return home from Friday 23rd July, 2021.” The release read.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the National Emergency Council held at the Foreign Affairs Conference Room.

The volcanic alert level remains at Orange.
