Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Ralph Gonsalves, while speaking on radio on Sunday discussed the possibility of offering further assistance to workers that have lost their jobs due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’ll have to extend also, despite the difficulties in terms of the revenue, we have to continue to help those workers who are substantially laid off or were fired, I mean who lost their jobs. You know, we have been doing that since April last year, including persons who had come home from the cruise ships, the sailors.
Prime Minister Gonsalves said that looking at the current situation it might become necessary for that program to be extended.
