The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force has launched an investigation into a fire at Dauphine, which caused over $80,000 in damage.

According to an official release from the Public Relations and Complaints Department the fire which took place on Sunday March 20th, destroyed a 16 x 18 ft two-bedroom board house and its contents valued at $88,100.

Preliminary investigations revealed that on the day of the fire, Andre Woods, 42 year old Labourer of Dauphine was reportedly cooking on his gas stove.

He later left the house and went to do some work in the yard. Woods claimed that on his return to the house, he saw smoke and fire in the kitchen area. He then attempted to put out the fire by using a water hose but was unsuccessful.

Officers from the Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
