Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Ralph Gonsalves, while discussing the new seismic activity taking place at La Soufriere, urged the public not to panic but to listen to the authorities make the appropriate preparations.

“I know that there would be anxieties concerning the reports from yesterday regarding a particular level of activity taking place at the La Soufriere volcano. As the scientists would have said, you know this is not a reason for us to panic. There’s a different type of seismic earthquake activity, but it is no reason to panic. What we have to simply do is to listen to the authorities, continue to make our preparations, as NEMO is doing nationally.” Dr. Gonsalves said.

Monitoring scientists at the Belmont Observatory led by scientists from The UWI Seismic Research Centre earlier this week noted a change in seismic activity associated with the ongoing eruption of the La Soufriere Volcano.
