Agencies involved in the Damage Assessment process as well as members of the Damage Assessment Sub-committee of The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) will participate in an Initial Damage Assessment Workshop this week.

The Initial Damage Assessment Workshop which started today Monday August 28th will be held up until August 30th. It is organised by NEMO with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA).

The workshop will be held at NEMO’s Conference Room, Old Montrose, beginning at 8:30 am each day.

According to NEMO, the objectives of the workshop are to train key personnel:

· To collect, collate, interpret and report damage information and statistics.

· To assess the needs of persons impacted.

The Initial Damage Assessment Workshop is one of the first activity being launched in St. Vincent and the Grenadines under the United States Agency for International Development Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (USAID/BHA) new five year (2022-2027) Regional Disaster Assistance Program for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) which provides support in the areas of Technical Assistance, Training and Emergency Response.
