During a call to the Issues at Hand program on Sunday, this country’s Minister of Tourism the Hon. Carlo James took the time to discuss Agro-tourism in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

“Minister Caesar from Agriculture, we have been discussing working closely together to see how we can get agro-tourism going, in terms of meeting the demand for hoteliers when we see the operation of Beaches and Marriott and Royal Mill, and all of these larger hotels with volumes. We’re hoping to see how we can meet the demand here locally to lower out import bill and facilitate this growing demand within the sector”. James said.

The Tourism Minister then highlighted the importance of the role of farmers and fishermen in this.

“But our farmers and fishers, they have that role to play as well within the economy and it’s very important that we give them as much support that is needed to ensure that we are able to sustain our local supply and also provide opportunities for the different hoteliers when they come here in terms what if available for them to tap into” he said.
