Yesterday, Monday February 14th marked 5 years since the Argyle International Airport (AIA) has been in operation.

Discussing the airport’s five years of discussion thus far, was Minister of Urban Development, Energy, Airports, Seaports, Grenadines Affairs and Local Government Senator Julian Francis.

While highlighting the successes of the AIA, Minister Francis also noted that there have also been issues.

“I am very proud of the Argyle International Airport. Within the five years we have attracted five international carriers and apart from that Vincentians are proud to land at their airport, their international airport.

COVID has put a damper on our travel—but people are so proud. There are some problems here and there; we now just approved some funds for the resurfacing of the two taxiways, there’s need for attention.” He said.

Minister Francis mentioned that that aggregate has been one of the hold ups in the completion of this work, which according to Francis, was contracted to Dipcon seven months ago.

Minister Francis discusses the AIA’s five year operation as well as problems faced.
