This country’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Simone Keizer Beache, during the Ministry of Health’s press conference on Tuesday discussed the response to SVG’s current Dengue Fever outbreak.

In response to the outbreak, the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) will be employing additional medical staff.

“We are also going to employ an additional 10 doctors and 6 nurses. Why do we need to employ additional staff? Because we have to what we call “surge capacity”.”

The CMO goes on to talk about how the impact of the influx of Dengue Fever cases has justified the hirings.

“We’ve had 167 persons turning up at the emergency room at the MCMH, just for Dengue, so this doesn’t take into account the regulate persons that visit.
