As St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the rest of the world celebrates World Water Day today, this country’s Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Hon. St. Clair Prince issued an address to mark the occasion. In his address he revealed that the CWSA is currently working on improving the country’s water supply.

“As the public may be aware, the Central Water and Sewerage Authority continues to improve to serve you better, and with a record nationwide water storage capacity of 5.7 million gallons of water at our disposal.

Improvement in the water supply is currently taking place at Mt. Wynne, Francois, and Kelbourney, as we extend and improve line networks. The team of hard working staff do their best to respond to the demand of the population and have grown accustomed to turning on the taps adn receiving water. Water is right and a necessity and receipt of this necessity must always be a priority for all.” Minister Prince said.

World Water Day has been celebrated each year on March 22nd since 1992. This day focuses on the importance of freshwater and presses for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. Besides, the day is aimed at raising awareness about 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water resources globally. According to the UN, global water demand is likely to rise by over 50 per cent by 2040.
