Over 100 positions within the Public Service will be created in 2023.

The announcement was made by Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Camillo Gonsalves, as he presented the estimates of revenue and expenditure for the 2022/2023 fiscal year, during the last sitting of parliament.

He noted that the positions will be created to further enhance the functioning of the Ministries and Departments, adding that the bulk of the posts are being allocated to the Ministry of National Security.

The Finance Minister indicated that there will also be additional staff within the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, five new positions within the Ministry of Tourism, eight within the Ministry of Agriculture, and six within the Ministry of National Mobilization, Mobilization, one of which includes a new Permanent Secretary.

A Permanent Secretary post has also been created in the Office of the Prime Minister as well as an Administrative Assistant; and six Sports Coaches have been added to the Ministry of Sports.
