The Honorary Consul of Guyana to St. Vincent and the Grenadines Mr. Nigel R. Russell in an official release has recognized that the explosive eruption has created a humanitarian crisis in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and said that he is working assiduously with the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for equitable relief distribution to those affected.
The release stated that Mr. Russell has conducted an initial assessment and has identified several categories for immediate relief.
The priority groups identified are persons who have health challenges due to pre-existing conditions; as well as households consisting of persons who were displaced by the eruption and are in private homes; and other vulnerable persons.
One point of distribution has been established, in a red and white building near the Girls High School’s hardcourt.
