Mr. Glen Beache, Chief Executive Officer of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority, during a guest appearance on the BOOM radio station, in response to a question from the host, explained the difference between Ministry of Tourism and the Tourism Authority.

“So the Ministry of Tourism is the head of the whole industry within the Government. The Tourism Authority is a statutory body that falls under the Ministry of Tourism, just like National Parks.” He said.

He went on to further explain the Ministry of Tourism’s responsibilities.

“The Ministry of Tourism is responsible for product development, for education, for planning, policy and local public relation and so on, here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, so that’s what the Ministry of Tourism is responsible for.

Mr. Beache then went on to explain the responsibilities of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority.

“The Tourism Authority, we’re responsible for the negotiations with airlines, the marketing of the country overseas, hotels, tour operators, tour guides, that sort of thing. We’re also responsible for the statistics, in terms of the number of people that are coming in.” Beache said.

The Tourism Authority CEO said that the entity owns the rights to both discoversvg.com and exploresvg.com but their main website is discoversvg.com, he however noted their website is currently under construction.
