The recruitment drive being carried by the Royal Caribbean cruise line will be decentralized in the near future.
This is according to Minister of Tourism Carlos James who announced that the drive will be coming into communities within the red and orange zones.
Minister James while speaking at a recent press conference highlighted the fact those living in communities in the north such as Fitz Hughes and Fancy have to contend with travel costs and more when attending these recruitment drives and the decision to have the drives moved into their communities will alleviate those difficulties.
“We came to the conclusion that we will also extend this recruitment drive to the red and orange zones, decentralizing the application process. So it means that we will identify a site on the north western side of the island and also a site on the north eastern end of the island in which we will take the recruitment exercise to the communities, as opposed to persons coming into Kingstown” James said.
James says that he sees this as a “big plus” in terms of facilitating persons were directly impacted by the explosive eruptions of the La Soufriere volcano.
He says this exercise is expected to take place in a few weeks and it is his hope that by early July or June the Royal Caribbean recruitment drive resume.
According to Minister James, approximately 400 persons have already gained full time employment with Royal Caribbean Cruises through the recruitment fair hosted at Beachcombers from May 13-15, 2022.
