Of the thirty-five Rose Place fishing vessel operators that are to be compensated, just 7 remain to sign compensation agreements with the Government.

This is according to Acting Project Manager on the Port Modernization project Lenski Douglas on Sunday during the Issue at Hand program.

“We have a list of thirty five fishing boat operators. Not fishermen but fishing boat operators. These are the guys that take the risk of purchasing a boat, purchasing an engine, purchasing fuel to ensure that they can go out with their pirogue to fish and there by employing a captain, couple sailors, a boat boy,” Douglas said.

The Acting Project Manager said that of the thirty five fishing boat operators just seven are yet to sign compensation agreements with the Government.

“As of Friday, we only had seven of the thirty five remaining to be dealt with,” he said.

According to Mr. Douglas each fishing vessel operator will be compensated with a minimum of $18,000.
