Minister of Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture Carlos James believes that it is time for the islands creatives to be able to expand their earning period beyond the carnival season.

Minister James says that the metaverse will be an essential tool, with serious earning potential the creatives of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

“I want us to take this seriously; there is serious revenue potential to be earned from it for creatives” he said.

The Tourism minister reiterated that the metaverse is not intended to be replacement for the traditional VincyMas festival but instead be an additional platform where local creatives, such as soca artises will be able to earn outside of the usual carnival season.

Minister James during his presentation also expressed his elation that the traditional VincyMas festival is making a comeback after two year absence, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m very happy to go back to the local VincyMas which we’ve been planning for some time for 2022. Very excited about the announcement of VincyMas 2022”. He said.

The Tourism Minister teased that there are great things in store for the festival that will run from June 24th to July 5th.
