VincyMas 2022 has been given the greenlight by health authorities here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. This came following a relaxation in the nation’s COVID-19 protocols, which allows for events to take place without restrictions on the vaccination status of attendees.

However, the Carnival Development Corporation says that it could be forced to revert to a vaccinated-only festival, and a scaled down festival, depending on the post-Easter situation in the country.

What transpires post easter would really determine the direction we go as it relates to our premier festival VincyMas. So we continue to emphasize and continue to encourage persons to adhere to the protocols, get vaccinated, protect yourself, reduce transmission rates” he said.

The mention of the transmission rate by the Minister is very important, as it was stated at this same press conference, the conditions that would make a reversion to a limited, vaccination event only VincyMas. Those conditions being:

  1. The country’s COVID-19 positivity rate exceeding five percent over the course of a week.
  2. The recording of more than 10 cases of COVID-19 that are not epidemiologically linked.
