The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) has said Vincentians should remain vigilant during the impending passage of a tropical wave.

The wave, which is located several hundred miles east of the Windward Islands, is expected to bring heavy rains and strong gusty winds across portions of the Lesser Antilles within the next 24 to 48 hours, according to the US National Hurricane Centre (NHC) forecast.

In a social media post, NEMO warned Vincentians that the approaching weather could pose a danger to life and property.

“Satellite Image at 7 am showing showers and thunderstorms associated with an area of low pressure approaching the Windward Islands. Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides or near rivers and streams should be alert during the passage of this system,” NEMO said.
