Over the weekend a video has circulated where a mother was allegedly left with no other choice but to give birth to her new-born in the triage section of the Maternity A ward of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH). According to statements from Ministry of Health and the Minister of Health Hon. St. Clair Prince an investigation has been launched into the matter.
The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment in an official statement on the issue assured that the mother, father, and child were in good health.
“The mother, baby and daddy have been assessed and are stable and without any immediate signs of any adverse effects due to the mode of delivery. Further examinations will continue.” The Ministry said
The Minister of Health also weighed in on the situation in a post on Facebook.
“The Hospital administration and top leadership of the Ministry of Health are aware of the situation. Please be assured that a thorough investigation has been launched to get to the bottom of this very disturbing occurrence.” The Minister said.
