Satellite images reveal features within the 2021 crater of La Soufriere volcano which appear to be mainly rubble according to a post by the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre.
The pattern of round features which is visible, according to the Research Center, probably reflect the morphology of the rubble, which includes: slumps, depressions and mounds.
The centre’s said that at this stage, scientists cannot say for sure that there are no vents, however there are no clear features in these images that look definitively like a dome or vent.
The UWI Seismic Research Centre says that the source of the gas plume remains unclear and their monitoring and investigation will continue.
