A St Lucian police officer made history as the first female police officer to be called to the bar.

Aniel Innocent, a member of the Royal St Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) was officially called to the Bar in Saint Lucia on October 25, after her earlier Bar admission in England on July 24, 2024.

Commenting on her journey to success, Innocent said, “I am excited and overwhelmed. It was an unimaginable journey filled with ups and downs, struggles, and health battles. But I managed to pull through, and I am ecstatic as the first female police officer breaking that glass ceiling.”

She added, “Despite this milestone, my primary focus remains on serving the police force and supporting the organization as best as I can.”

Cameron Laure, President of the Police Welfare Association stated, “The Police Welfare Association is immensely proud of Miss Innocent and extends heartfelt congratulations on her success. Her achievement is poised to inspire future generations of women within the RSLPF and beyond, demonstrating that with determination and resilience, they can reach heights once thought unattainable.”
