Chief Executive Officer of the Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) Mr. Garth Saunders, while speaking on the Issues at Hand program aired on WEFM, encouraged all those that are receiving water through the tap to ensure to store some of it, because water supply is likely to be cut again and it may happen sooner rather than later.

Saunders said that there is still a lot of ash on the trees and slopes of the mountains and if there were to be heavy rainfall, this ash will be brought into the water, prompting another cut-off of water supply to prevent contamination.

He spoke of his experience while visiting the Hermitage system, and recalled the sight of the entire area still being blanketed in ash.

The CWSA CEO said that while heavy rainfall will be instrumental in cleaning the streets and mountains, moving us closer to getting things back to normal, it still poses a threat to the water supply.

The country’s water supply was disrupted on Friday April 9th, following the explosive eruption of La Soufriere.
