Chairpersons and members of boards, of all statutory enterprises, state owned companies, and public enterprises will have the option to be vaccinated by October 15th or demit their offices. This was disclosed by Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves during a call to the Issues at Hand program.
“I drafted a letter, a memorandum to the chairpersons and members of the boards of all statutory enterprises and state owned companies and public enterprises generally that they have also been given a choice to be vaccinated by the 15th of October or demit their offices, to take their first vaccine by then, if they haven’t take it yet, I know many of them have”. Gonsalves said.
Prime Minister Gonsalves noted that entirety of Cabinet had already been vaccinated against COVID-19 for some time now.
The Prime Minister then explained the reason for his decision.
“I don’t see how we could have the Cabinet vaccinated, and we are asking frontline workers, for instance in the port and airports to be vaccinated and then the people who are running these statutory enterprises or public companies are not vaccinated, so they also have to lead by example in that regard”. He said.
Vaccination numbers of the Ministry of Health’s latest COVID-19 update dashboard, stand at 33,416 total vaccines administered, 20,165 of those being first doses and 13,251 being second doses.
