Zika virus likely to spread across the Americas according to the World Health Organization
The Zika Virus is likely to spread across nearly all of the Americas, the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned.
The infection which causes symptoms including mild fever, conjunctivitis and headache has already been found in 21 countries in the Caribbean, North and South America.
It has been linked to thousands of babies being born with underdeveloped brains and some countries have advised women not to get pregnant.
In a statement, the Pan American health Organization (PAHO) the regional office of the WHO said: “PAHO anticipates the Zika Virus will continue to spread and will likely reach all countries and territories of the region where the Aedes mosquitoes are found.”
No treatment or vaccine is available, and the lack of immunity in the Americas is thought to be helping the infection to spread rapidly.

Adidas to end sponsorship of scandal-hit IAAF
German sportswear giant Adidas, the biggest sponsor of the scandal hit International Association of Athletics Federations, is to end its multimillion dollar backing of the governing body four years early, the BBC reported Sunday.
The BBC said Adidas's decision was related directly to the doping scandal engulfing global track and field.
Adidas is understood to have told the IAAF it was thinking of withdrawing from its agreement as a a result of the World Anti Doping Agency Independent Commission's first report, published in November, which detailed claims of "state sponsored doping" within Russia.
According to the BBC, Adidas believes the doping revelations in Pound's report constitute a breach of its agreement with the IAAF.
The 11year sponsorship deal was signed in 2008 and was due to run until 2019. At the time it was agreed, the deal was reported to be worth $33 million.
