Vincentian Entrepreneur, Mikhail Akers, has launched this country’s first ever online marketplace – Island Trade and Services.
A release from Island Trade and Services says the launch took place on social media site – Facebook, on April 2, in the form of a website unveiling.
The core purpose of the initiative is to provide a free platform for local entrepreneurs and persons in general, to expose their products and services.
According to the release, the initiative was well received by Vincentians online, ramping up 3,000 hits in its first two days.
Entrepreneurs are encouraged to use the platform to capitalize on social media as an avenue for promotion, while maintaining traditionally effective promotion avenues such as Television, Radio and Print.
The launch brings St. Vincent and the Grenadines in line with other Caribbean countries such as Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago which already have such initiatives.
