Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness believes that the Montego Bay Perimeter Road Project, which costs US$274.5 million, will bring many benefits upon completion.

One of the most significant advantages is a reduction of 5,000 cars on the streets of Montego Bay each day. Holness stated that this could open doors for property development as new lands become accessible.

During a site visit on Monday, he reported that 60% of the excavation work has already been completed, and it is expected to include construction of a notable bridge at Sign Irwin.

The prime minister is confident that the completion of the project will mark a new phase of development for the city.

Holness also emphasized the importance of protecting the environment, and he assured the public that appropriate measures have been taken to ensure that wildlife and cultural items are preserved, despite some previously untouched areas being used for the project.
