Vincy Mas 2020 has been officially cancelled.

The announcement was made today by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, while speaking on We FM’s Wake Up program.

While on radio, Dr. Gonsalves said the decision was made after the Cabinet of St. Vincent and the Grenadines accepted recommendations by the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC), to cancel Vincy Mas 2020, in its original format, scheduled for June to July 2020.

In making the announcement, the Prime Minister said the CDC after meeting with the relevant stakeholders in Carnival and hearing their recommendations, it in the form of a recommendation to the Ministry of Tourism. 

The Prime Minister however noted that the door will be left open for a festival during the summer.

The acceptance of the recommendations relieves the CDC from their various obligations of planning for Vincy mas 2020.

The economic review and stimulus package which will be presented to parliament on April 7, 2020, contains provisions to assit persons who are actively engaged in carnival and the cultural industry.
