Earlier today while speaking on radio Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves disclosed that 61 national awards had been given out by the Government, while also going into the cost of some of the awards.
“We gave out 61 awards, seven of them from CAPE, seven of them are national scholars, fifteen of them are national exhibitions, five of them are bursaries; then in relation to the associate degrees we have one national exhibition and the three special awards, and special awards are at the level—the value of national exhibitions.” He said.
The Prime Minister made mention of the fact that seven of the awards alone, when put together amounted to around four million dollars; he went on to say that while awarding of these scholarships is not cheap, it is essential.
