According to Volcanologist Dr. Thomas Christopher, activity at the La Soufriere volcano has remained quiet since the last explosive event on Thursday April 22nd. Due to this quiet activity, the volcanic alert level was changed from red to orange, allowing for residents of the orange zone to return to their homes. However Dr. Christopher has continued to strongly advise against persons entering the red zone.

“That would be a bad idea to do so, especially when it’s raining a lot” Christopher said.

Dr. Christopher said that he understands that the situation of those that belong to the red zones; wanting to check on their property and that he knows it is a hard decision for them not to do so but to enter the red zone at this time is still too dangerous.

Though those living within the orange zones have been given the go ahead to return to their homes, those residing in the Chateaubelair and Fitz Hughes have not been given the all clear just yet.
