Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves during his speech at the Dubai EXPO 2020 discussed the relationship between St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the United Arab Emirates.

Prime Minister Gonsalves touched on various benefits that have been derived from SVG’s relationship with the UAE thus far.

“Over the recent decade or so our two countries have been building a quality partnership beyond the usual diplomatic relations. We have removed visa restrictions for reciprocal travel to our respective countries; we have engaged each other meaningfully in collaborative diplomacy and international relations; we are one of the UAE’s reliable friends” Gonsalves said.

He then made mention of the ways that SVG has benefitted from this relationship.

“We have benefitted from the UAE in respect of renewable energy and from Dubai itself on matters of targeted care on local communities” he said.

Prime Minister Gonsalves spoke of the current activity from UAE investors in country.

“Investors from the UAE are currently engaged with us about investments in our economy in areas such as tourism, air and sea transportation, financial services, seaport development and urban development.” Prime Minister Gonsalves said.
