On Tuesday, a police team from the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID), part of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC), carried out an anti-narcotics operation in upper St. Andrew, Jamaica, leading to the arrest of five Jamaican men and the seizure of a large quantity of a substance believed to be cocaine.
During the raid, FNID officers, with support from other C-TOC units, apprehended the suspects and confiscated several knitted bags suspected to contain the illegal substance. The seized substance weighed 2,526.4 kilograms and is estimated to have a street value of US$75,792,000, according to a police statement released on Wednesday.
The contents of the bags are currently being processed, and further updates will be provided as the investigation continues. The police emphasized that this operation underscores their ongoing commitment to combating narcotics and firearms trafficking in Jamaica.
