A 35-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in a domestic violence case, after allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend and leaving her at a hospital emergency room where she was pronounced dead.

Dana (DAY- NAH) Joseph Jr. was arrested early Wednesday morning at approximately 2:10am, and charged with Murder in the first-degree domestic violence in connection with the death of 33-year-old Latifa Raimer (RAY-MER).

The police reported that hospital staff at Schneider Regional Medical Centre (SRMC) notified the 911 Emergency Call Centre at approximately 8:48pm on Tuesday that a female gunshot victim had been dropped off at the Emergency Room.

The victim, later identified by family members as Raimer (RAY-MER), was already unresponsive when hospital staff discovered her.

She was pronounced dead before law enforcement arrived.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Joseph, the victim’s ex-boyfriend, shot Raimer (RAY-MER) and then drove her to the hospital, and left without making contact with any hospital personnel.

Joseph has been transferred to the Bureau of Corrections where he is being held, pending his Advice of Rights Hearing.
