The RSVG Police Force has stated that it is a Traffic Offence for drivers of Omnibuses to not take passengers to the Bus Terminals.

Speaking on WEFM this morning Police Constable 1040 Hunte of the RSVGPF Traffic Department stated that they have received numerous reports from members of the traveling public who travels with omnibuses on a daily basis, and is faced with the daunting tasks of walking to their destinations after being forced to exit due to the fact that the omnibus driver or conductor has informed them that they will not be reaching the bus terminal.

He stated that this is an offence under the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Regulations.

“This is an offense under the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Regulation. According to Regulation 47, it states, Every person driving a motor omnibus on a road shall, after quitting any stand or garage with passengers, proceed directly to the place or places included in the route of such omnibus, and shall not delay in so doing, and shall not return to the place of departure after leaving it except on the journey.”

Police Constable 1040 Hunte cautioned omnibus drivers to adhere to the rules because once reported they will be prosecuted in accordance to the law. He further appealed to the traveling public to continue to report all cases of this nature to the Traffic Department.
