Guyana’s President Dr. Irfaan Ali has announced further steps to improve road safety in Guyana in 2025, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat reckless driving.
Speaking at the 2024 year-end press conference, he praised authorities for penalizing errant drivers but emphasized the need for continued progress.
Dr. Ali stressed that road fatalities remain a significant concern, noting, “It is one death too much on the road.”
Guyana’s President outlined several initiatives, including the introduction of advanced technologies like 24-hour surveillance cameras on major roads.
According to the Guyana Chronicle, early testing showed over 60,000 instances of speeding, which remains a key focus.
In the near future, electronic speed meters will be installed to warn drivers to slow down. These efforts aim to make Guyana’s roadways safer and reduce traffic-related deaths.
