St. Vincent and the Grenadines is set to benefit from a potential partnership with the U.S.-based Afya Foundation, aimed at strengthening the nation’s healthcare system.

Two representatives from the foundation, Danielle Butin and Heather Clarke, are currently on a fact-finding mission, visiting health facilities across the country and meeting with key health stakeholders. The visit began on Sunday and will continue over the next two days.

The Afya Foundation is known for shipping medical supplies to countries in need, helping to fill critical gaps in the global healthcare supply chain.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Nerissa Gittens-McMillan, welcomed the initiative, noting it comes at a time when global aid from the U.S. has declined. She said healthcare remains costly, and the country is pleased to explore this partnership.

Afya’s Danielle Butin says the foundation works closely with hospitals in New York and is excited to collaborate with St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
