The Social Workers’ Association of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Inc. (SWASVG Inc.) has elected a new seven member executive to coordinate it’s affairs for the next two (2) years. The general election took place on the 8th April, 2024.
The association’s new executive is as follows; Assistant Secretary -Chrissie- Ann Solomon, PRO – Sharii Roberts, President – Lou-Ann Boyde, Secretary – Urania Haywood, Treasurer – Jerwayne Laidlow, Trustee – Janiel George, and Vice President – Porsia Cottle.
In further development of social work in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the current president Lou-Ann Boyde highlighted that “for the future of Social Work in St.Vincent and the Grenadines, the association envisages bringing awareness not just to the micro-practice of the profession (welfarism), but to be integrally involved in aspects of macro-practice that influences policies and laws that would contribute to the holistic well-being of the society.
The Social Workers’ Association is a Non- Governmental Organization whose purpose is to enhance the professional growth, development and well-being of Social Workers in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, through advocacy, networking, and empowerment of its members as well as the populations that they serve, while upholding the Social Work principles and ethics of the profession.
