The opening of the largest hotel in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is on schedule for late March.

This is according to Minister of Finance Camillo Gonsalves, while delivering his budget presentation yesterday.

Gonsalves said the 300-room Sandals Resort at a cost of over $600 million at Buccament Bay, heralds the dawn of a new phase in tourism development.

He stated that 550 Vincentians will be employed March, and top out at 900 local employees by the end of its first full year of operation.

Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts, Adam Stewart, on Twitter stated that after two decades in the making, Sandals Resorts is bringing its touch to the pristine beauty of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Stewart said: “From my first visit, I was captivated by its allure. With our ‘Sandals First’ commitment, we’re introducing the stellar Two-Bedroom Butler Villas and the exclusive Vincy Overwater Two-Story Villas. Add to that a breathtaking 300-foot linear pool and 16 distinct culinary experiences. Our team is redefining unparalleled luxury, connecting you deeply with local cuisine, culture, and the island. Join us March 27, 2024, and enjoy the magic of Sandals Saint Vincent and The Grenadines.”

In his contribution on the Tourism Sector, Gonsalves also said, “An additional 350 hotel rooms, from the Holiday Inn Express and Marriott Resorts brands, will add further room stock, jobs, and capacity to the hospitality sector.”
