As of December 10, 2024, a total of 2,601 homes in St. Vincent and the Grenadines have been assessed for repair or rebuilding following damage from Hurricane Beryl, volcanic eruptions, and recent floods and landslides. Nearly 5,000 homes were affected by Beryl, and an additional 1,000 by other environmental factors.
Of the 2,601 assessed, 1,979 homes are either repaired, in the process of being rebuilt, or receiving self-help assistance through building material grants from the Ministry of Housing. Additionally, the Housing and Land Development Corporation (HLDC) has prepared 144 projects for complete rebuilding, with 65 contracts signed and 38 in progress.
The government has also facilitated the repair or rebuilding of about 250 homes in Canouan and Union Island through the Gumbolimbo Group, led by Ian Wace. Efforts to address the remaining homes are ongoing, with further support expected in the coming months.
