Saturday, December 21st, 2024, will go down in history as the busiest day for Argyle International Airport (AIA), with the highest number of aircraft arrivals recorded since the airport opened in February 2017.

The airport’s operations team successfully managed the surge in traffic, thanks to the dedicated efforts of key personnel. Shift supervisors Ms. Moreisha Arthur and Mr. Darren Young, along with Air Traffic Control Officers Ms. Michelle Thorne and Mr. Kevin Walters, played a pivotal role in ensuring smooth operations throughout the day. Their work was further supported by Manager of Air Traffic Services (Ag.), Mr. Dillett Davis.

Since its opening, Argyle International Airport has played a critical role in transforming the SVG’s tourism sector. It has made SVG more accessible to international tourists, facilitating growth in air arrivals. The airport has also been a catalyst for economic growth, creating jobs in aviation, tourism, and related sectors.

In addition to tourism, the airport has strengthened the country’s trade links, providing a more efficient gateway for exports, particularly in agriculture and seafood, which are key industries for the island nation.
