The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Transformation has reported positive results from a recent livestock feed trial conducted at the Dumbarton Agricultural Station.
Nutritionist Dr. Nicole Tim, of the Animal Health and Production Division, provided an update on the study, which tested pig feed formulated from conch trimmings supplied by Rainforest Seafood Limited.
The five-week trial involved weaner pigs and examined three inclusion levels of lactic acid from conch trimmings—twenty, thirty, and forty percent.
Dr. Tim noted that the twenty and thirty percent inclusion levels produced better performance than the forty percent concentration.
The Ministry says the findings will support improved livestock feeding practices and contribute to the continued development of the agricultural sector.
