The community of Redemption Sharpes in Central Kingston celebrated Christmas in grand style, with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security St. Clair Leacock emphasizing the role of community development in citizen security.

Speaking at the event, Leacock said that building families and communities gives people hope, opportunity, and self-belief, reducing the risk of youth turning to the streets. He highlighted ongoing efforts to provide jobs, training, and educational opportunities, noting that many residents worked temporary jobs this holiday season and more permanent positions will follow in 2026.

Leacock pledged that investments in infrastructure and community programs will continue, aiming to transform Redemption Sharpes into a thriving and safe community, while calling on residents to take responsibility for themselves and their neighborhoods.
