St. Vincent and the Grenadines is perceived to be the least corrupt in the OECS and third least corrupt in CARICOM, coming in at rank 36/180.

This is according to Corruption Perception Index, which ranks countries by their perceived levels of public sector corruption, as determined by expert assessments and opinion surveys.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves while speaking on NBC Radio’s Face to Face program earlier this week spoke about SVG’s ranking.

“You know, recently, the transparency international published the corruption perception index for 2021, you might have seen some stuff on it, and of 180 countries which are ranked, St. Vincent and the Grenadines is ranked out of a class of 180, we ranked 36th. You will see that we are the best ranked OECS country; and in CARICOM only Barbados and The Bahamas ahead of us.” The Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister Gonsalves during the call took the time to address those in the public that had likened corruption in St. Vincent and the Grenadines to that of Haiti (ranked 164th), questioning the motive behind such attacks on the nation.
