Minister of Agriculture the Hon. Saboto Caesar while speaking on radio recently said that Rainforest Seafoods will have five employees before the end of the year but by the end of January 2022, 80 workers will be employed by the processing facility.

“We are going to see the movement of more fish and marine products from St. Vincent and the Grenadines and importantly—for example, I had a conversation with Rainforest [Seafood] last nights, a meeting; and they will be having eighty workers by the end of January. They’re going to start with five before the end of this year and they’re going to ramp it up to close to eighty by the end of January.” He said.

Minister Caesar said that this will lead to individuals branching out into new professions, from the ones they are currently in.

“It means there are persons who were in construction who will be moving to fisheries; there are persons who were in agriculture who may be doing both agriculture and fisheries.” Caesar said.

The Agriculture Minister said that he wanted persons to embrace the upcoming shifts that are coming to the sector.
