“We are at a time when what is happening across the world is getting worse, and in particular the military aggression against Ukraine—we are going to  see increase in prices of many commodities, including oil, food products too and it may get worse before it gets better.” He said.

Prime Minister Gonsalves stressed the importance that those in the Caribbean continue to “call for peace and cessation of hostilities” amid the tensions between Ukraine and Russia.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of call for peace in all regions and not just some.

“While Ukraine is on the TV, don’t forget Haiti, while Ukraine on the TV don’t forget Syria, don’t forget Afghanistan, don’t forget Yemen, don’t forget the Central African Republic, don’t forget Ethiopia. Remember, bad as it is as we have seen in Ukraine, there are other parts of the world which we have had similar or even worse kinds of bombardments.” Gonsalves said.
