Male attendant at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospial (MCMH) Mr. Carlton Richardson of Fair Hall is currently in police custody assisting with an investigation that was launched into reports of Vincentian woman who are being recruited as babysitters and housekeepers, then are allegedly subjected to exploitation and possibly human trafficking.
According to an official police release Richardson was detained after a female resident reported to authorities that on the 12th of February, a male approached her and told her that he was seeking to recruit young ladies and housekeepers for a “white woman” in the grenadines. Police the responded to the report and Richardson was subsequently detained for questioning.
The public is being advised by the Anti-trafficking in Persons Unit to be aware of persons offering lucrative jobs (locally and overseas). They warned the public to ensure that these offers are genuine before accepting them.
The police in their release offered several steps to verify the authenticity of the job such as; legal travel, sign only documents you understand, avoiding debt bondage and more.
