Health Promotions Officer within the Ministry of Health, Miss Shanika John, while speaking on radio last week discussed the protocols one should following if exposed to a COVID-19 positive individual; explaining the differences in the protocols for the unvaccinated and vaccinated.

Miss John first discussed the protocols for vaccinated individuals:

“So if you’re vaccinated and you’re a known contact of a positive and you have no symptoms, you are allowed to go about for the next five days with your N95 mask and then on day five you can test”

The Health Promotions then discussed the protocol for those who aren’t vaccinated:

“If you are unvaccinated, you are asked to quarantine for that five day period and then you test on day five, which is what we did in the previous instances as well” she said.

Miss John said that if the exposed individual is still asymptomatic by day 5 they can then call their flu clinic for further advice, However if they are symptomatic they will then be treated as a known positive.
