Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) Mr. Garth Saunders while speaking on radio this morning provided an update on the restoration of the Jennings system.

He said that the team tasked with getting system up and running again had been faced with a setback due to some of the pipeline infrastructure not being integrated with the new Jennings infrastructure.

Mention was made of spring source South Rivers that was made available to persons in the area to meet their needs. The CWSA will also be dispatching a truck with water to supply water to the surrounding areas.

Saunders said that significant cleaning was carried out at the Jennings system, sections of the plant were partially cleaned and the team was able to put water into the sedimentation tank and also under the filters.

The Jennings system was originally intended to be back up and running last night but Mr. Saunders says that he is confident that it will be operational today. The Jennings system services areas from Byrea to Diamond.
